The Great Aussie Kerfuffle - Illustration Treatment

The Great Aussie Kerfuffle - Illustration Treatment. When I first read the script for The Great Aussie Kerfuffle, my first impression was to go for a very detail type of illustration filled with lots of little animal creatures keeping the readers fascinated by discovering something new every time they open the book.

In creating the visuals I wanted to reflect what I would like to see if I was the reader and more importantly I wanted to illustrate a book that I would love my children to read.

The very big challenge for me was to be able to keep the personality of each animal after the exchange part of another species anatomy for one of his or hers. It was important that we could distinguish quickly what the animals were wearing from each other's and who they were.

This book was very addictive to work on. I've kept adding more and more details on the pages every time I looked at them.

This was the perfect story and a great opportunity to create numerous characters with a highly detail illustration style.
